Emphasis: Line
This project taught us about using shapes wisely and the visual language of simple shapes. This first task gave us prompts and incredibly limited shapes (exclusively lines) to convey the prompts with. This was a good foundation for when we moved on to the further tasks.
Emphasis: Circle
Emphasis circle built from Line and followed the same layout but using circles exclusively instead. I enjoyed this task but found myself going a bit off track and overcomplicating my designs.
Onomatopoeia
The Onomatopoeia task was to convey the meaning of the word using only the word itself. This was a fun and puzzling task and often had me stumped. But I’m proud of many of these outcomes.
Emphasis Counterform
Counterform was our final task, we deconstructed typography and zoomed in to both highlight and hide the letterform. Then moved on to display and highlight the counters themselves. The final part was to combine the letters. I loved this section and especially the Ls design. This section sent me researching luxury design and logos.
Final Animation
The final outcome of this project was animating one of the experiments. I chose to animate ‘bounce’ and focus on creating a simple but professional-looking animation. I followed YouTube tutorials and practised the procedures they taught to achieve a smooth and realistic ball. I love animating and hope to improve my skills with After Effects.
